Draw: what it means

A draw is a match that is level after 90 minutes. Extra time and penalties do not count.

Draws are the result people call least and see most. A large share of matches end level, and almost nobody says so beforehand.

The forecasting model calls the draw more often than you may expect, on purpose. It is built to say so when the numbers point to a level match, and the record table above shows what happened each time it did.

Draw: questions

How often do soccer matches end in a draw?

It depends on the league. The league table on this page gives each league's share of drawn matches, with the number of matches counted.

Why does the model call so many draws?

Because draws happen that often. The model is not rounded toward a winner to look confident. The record table shows what it said about draws and what happened.

Does a penalty shootout change a draw?

No. A match level after 90 minutes is a draw in this market, whoever goes through afterwards.
